chasing ghosts

it begins with a tiny tingle in the throat,
provoking you to get a counterbalance
by taking out of you some wacko noise,
while your body contorts itself, intense

in standard terms, the cough's installed,
the eyes have shed some lordless tears,
and from the sinuses trickle salty drops
which your hands wish… to wipe 'em off

everything stings gravely; possible to be,
[some allergy], [some common cold], or
your physique longs… [out of the blue],
for antiviral treatment and multivitamin

[your mind supposes, symptoms confirm],
every part of yours will be chasing ghosts,
will edit the whisper in the cough, the hug
in the sneeze, and will lull 'em with hot tea
